Here are some digital images of my camera work. These are among my favorites. To view an image, click on the thumbnail or the name of the image. Note that the file sizes of the images are shown, as are the resolutions. All of the full-size images are JPEGs, so a full color (24-bit) display is recommended for best viewing.
Images that are 320x240 or 240x320 were taken with a Casio QV-10 digital camera, as was the clip of Jeanine's lips at the top of the page. The resolution of this amazing camera is limited, but the convenience and capabilities are superior and make up for a lot. I believe that this camera represents the future of photography, and I look forward to the day that I can trash my film-based camera equipment.
In 1998, I moved from the QV-10 to a QV-100, which had four times the resolution of the QV-10; It didn't seem to have the color saturation of the QV-10, nor was it as fast, at least in its high-resolution mode (640x480). I didn't try it in 320x240, as that's not why I purchased it. Perhaps it needs more light, or something along those lines.
In any case, it didn't measure up, and so I went and bought a Kodak DC-120 in mid-1999, and now we're talking about a minimally acceptable camera with which you can do serious work. Resolution is about a million pixels, and the color saturation and exposure control are superior. I have a 64 megabyte ram card in it, and so it can take quite a few images without running out of storage. The main problem is now the communications speed between the camera and the host computer - my next digital camera will have to have a USB connection at the least, but no question that the DC-120 is pretty close to what I've been waiting for.
Images on this page that are not from the QV-10 are scans of either prints from 35mm film or polaroids. I often use a polaroid to test; sometimes the polaroids are better than the 35mm shots, and I've become accustomed to using them without prejudice. If the image is good... what difference where it came from?
Please note that I do retain copyright and all other use rights for these images. While I'm not fond of the business environment that copyrights and patents have produced, I must use these mechanisms or suffer the loss of a somewhat even playing field. Sorry.
