Additional Information
After leaving school, he clerked for a time, then learned telegraphy and followed that occupation until the breaking out of the civil war, when he enlisted in the Burgess' Sharp Shooters, in Missouri, and served through the war. He was discharged in the south, and went to Texas looking for employment, and was never heard of afterward. Diligent search was made for him, but no trace discovered. He is believed to have been murdered, as Texas, at that time, was not a safe place for union soldiers.
